Ninjasonik - Tight Pants(The Rap Remix)

Ninjasonik is like one LP away from becoming the household name they are destined to become. Their live shows have become some of the most talked about events in New York, and it's only a matter of time before the rest of the world catches on. Their music, equal parts Punk Rock, Hip Hop, and Baltimore club is the kind of music that can get a packed venue whipped into a frenzy in no time. The video here, for the group's first single "Tight Pants" is a perfect introduction to who they are and what they're about. On the surface this seems like a simple tune about pants, but to Ninjasonik;

"this tight pants thing isn't even just about tight pants. its about being different. for years every kid in the hood that refused to dress in the 'hip hop' uniform of baggy jeans and white t's has been shitted on and when they wore tight pants, some motherfuckers had the nerve to go say some shit like 'look at this tight pants wearing ass nigga' . . . fuck the haters tho . . . that's why we made the song . . . to say we are proud of who we are."

The video is set against clips from the Uniqlock, an embedded blog-widget and micro-site site from Uniqlo. Uniqlo has become a staple of the Tight Pants scene. Telly shouts them out at the beginning of his verse.

The video was directed by Jacob Septimus and Nicolas Chatfield-Taylor as a chunnel.tv exclusive. Jake and Nick began working together when Nick did the credit sequence and posters for Jake’s film B.I.K.E. They recently collaborated on a banned video for O’neal McKnight which you’ll read about in a future post. Jake has directed videos for Mos Def, Zach De La Rocha, KRS One and David Blaine. Nick has directed videos for Parts and Labor, Japanther and Matt and Kim.
