Beck - Songs of Leonard Cohen
by diggs, November.30.2009
Since the dawn of his career Beck has been carving his own lane in the music industry. Rather than throw in the towel when the biz went in to mp3 turmoil, he embraced it, and launched Record Club. The RC is basically Beck's record label where he gets to record, document and release full reinterpretations of classic albums. So far he's released cover LP's by Skip Spence, Velvet Underground, and Leonard Cohen. For the recently released Leonard Cohen set, he invited his buddies Devendra Banhart, MGMT, Wolfmother and Little Joy down to his studio to create a free-form version of the 1967 LP 'Songs of Leonard Cohen". Here's both Beck and Cohen's version of "Suzanne". You can stay informed of new Record Club recordings by checking out the site here.
Beck's version of Velvet Underground's "Sunday Morning", can be found here on Chunnel.
