Banksy Vs. The Bristol Museum
by Stu, June.15.2009
The most blogged about man in art returns with a new show for the Bristol Museum. Some of these pieces were previously showcased at the artist's pop-up "Pet Shop" in New York last summer, but the majority of the work is brand new and builds on many of Banksy's running themes.
Much like the pet shop, this show came as a complete surprise. Bristol City Museum and Art Gallery’s director, Kate Brindley was able to keep things under wraps about the exhibition up until the opening this past Saturday.
Oh, and that Damien Hirst painting the rat is going over? it's real
"The people of Bristol have always been very good to me - I decided the best way to show my appreciation was by putting a bunch of old toilets and some live chicken nuggets in their museum…"
