Cityshrinker

I spent a long time going through these pictures before I bothered to read anything about them, and I was blown away by what I thought were the most intricate dioramas I've ever seen. Well, it turns out that these aren't models at all, these are photos of real cities.

“The process of achieving the diorama effect essentially works around shifting or reducing the depth of field in a shot,” explains the Melbourne-based photographer, Ben Thomas. “This can be done one of two ways: changing the depth of field in the shot with a tilt-shift lens or using Photoshop (or similar) to do the same thing, with a lot more freedom.

“The final piece in achieving the style is around the colouring and, to be honest, this is what takes the serious hours.”
